Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a Maintenance Technician to care for church buildings, grounds, and equipment. You will perform routine maintenance, custodial tasks, and safety checks to support a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for worship and community events.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in maintenance or custodial work, basic carpentry/electrical/HVAC skills, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs. A valid driver’s license and background check are required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; vocational training a plus.
2+ years of experience in maintenance, custodial work, or related field.
Basic skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
Valid driver’s license; ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks.
Must pass diocesan background check and Safe Environment training (e.g., VIRTUS).

Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections of HVAC, electrical, lighting, and plumbing systems.
Troubleshoot and repair doors, locks, fixtures, and painting.
Set up and break down for events and parish functions.
Maintain grounds, lawns, sidewalks, and exterior lighting.
Mop, sweep, and maintain all floors; keep spaces clean and welcoming.
Report maintenance issues to the Facilities Director promptly.
Follow safety and cleaning protocols to maintain a safe environment.
