Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a Maintenance Technician to care for church buildings, grounds, and equipment. You will perform routine maintenance, custodial tasks, and safety checks to support a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for worship and community events.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in maintenance or custodial work, basic carpentry/electrical/HVAC skills, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs. A valid driver’s license and background check are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational training a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in maintenance, custodial work, or related field.
• Basic skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Must pass diocesan background check and Safe Environment training (e.g., VIRTUS).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections of HVAC, electrical, lighting, and plumbing systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair doors, locks, fixtures, and painting.
• Set up and break down for events and parish functions.
• Maintain grounds, lawns, sidewalks, and exterior lighting.
• Mop, sweep, and maintain all floors; keep spaces clean and welcoming.
• Report maintenance issues to the Facilities Director promptly.
• Follow safety and cleaning protocols to maintain a safe environment.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general upkeep, repair, and maintenance of church buildings, grounds, and equipment. This includes routinemaintenance, custodial duties, safety checks, and responding to urgent facility needs.The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, respects the sacredness of church property, and supports the parish’s mission by helping to create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

Job Responsibilities

Facilities Maintenance

• Perform routine inspections of HVAC, electrical, lighting, and plumbing systems.
• Troubleshoot and complete basic repairs (e.g., doors, locks, fixtures, painting,drywall).
• Perform routine maintenance of parish hall, classrooms, rectory, and other facilities.

Groundskeeping

• Maintain lawns, landscaping, sidewalks, and parking areas (As Needed)
• Remove snow, ice, and debris to ensure safe walkways and access (As Needed)
• Monitor and maintain exterior lighting and signage.

Custodial Duties

• Set up and break down for events, Masses, funerals, and parish functions.
• Ensure trash and recycling are properly managed.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including restocking supplies as needed (toilet paper, soap, paper towels).
• Mop, sweep, and maintain all floors throughout the church and school, including entryways and hallways.
• Maintain a routine cleaning schedule to ensure all interior spaces are consistently clean and welcoming.
• Set up rooms for church services, events, and meetings as requested by the Facilities Director.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facilities Director promptly.
• Follow all safety and cleaning protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment.

Safety and Compliance

• Respond to facility emergencies (e.g., leaks, equipment failures).
• Maintain safety logs, reports, and maintenance schedules.

Other Duties

• Assist with minor renovations or special projects under the direction of the Pastor or Maintenance Manager
• Supervise vendors and contractors when outside work is required.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment
