Heritage Christian School in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Middle School Boys Basketball Head Coach to lead with character, faith, and competitive spirit. The role is on-site and focuses on developing student-athletes in a Christ-centered environment.

The head coach will oversee practices, mentor players, and coordinate with varsity staff while upholding the school’s athletics handbook and values in daily operations.

Qualifications

• Must be a Christian with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree to the HCS faith and values.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.
• Prior coaching or playing experience is preferred.
• Previous managerial experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coach with Varsity coaches in fundamentals, drills, patterns, offenses, defenses, conditioning, and techniques.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with HCS rules and regulations.
• Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training for success as outlined in the Athletics Handbook.
• Teach athletes safe, sound fundamental techniques of the designated sport.
• Uphold team expectations and provide accountability to student-athletes.
• Promote collaboration with multi-sport athletes, students, parents and staff to balance academics and athletics.
• Supervise the gym/field/locker room and secure facilities when not in use.
• Coach from a Biblical perspective and reflect Jesus Christ to athletes.
• Set an example of church attendance, prayer and Bible study.
• Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, administration, and staff.
• Support the Administration in carrying out the school mission.
• Encourage parental involvement and grow students’ faith and self-worth in Christ.
