Job summary

HOPE Christian Schools, Inc. is seeking a Varsity Boys Track & Field Coach who will lead the program in alignment with the school’s mission and Biblical values.

The coach acts as an athletic instructor and spiritual leader, guiding athletes in discipline, teamwork, and character development. The role emphasizes collaboration with the Varsity Girls Head Coach to ensure unified practices, meets, and program support, while overseeing budget, compliance, and safety across all activities.

Qualifications

• Active faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith.
• Required credentials: New Mexico state coaching credential and 7-12 licensure.
• High school coaching experience preferred (track and field).
• Strong knowledge of track and field rules, techniques, and athlete development.
• Ability to mentor student-athletes through athletics and discipleship.
• Leadership, communication, organizational, collaboration, and team-building skills.
• Ability to work with co-coaches and maintain professional conduct.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Successful background checks and required training.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead varsity boys track and field practices, competitions, and team activities.
• Provide instruction in fundamentals, conditioning, technique, and sportsmanship.
• Coordinate training across running, jumping, and throwing events.
• Partner with the Varsity Girls Head Coach to coordinate practices, meets, and resources.
• Collaborate with assistant and event coaches for instruction and supervision.
• Foster a team culture rooted in discipline, respect, and servant leadership.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, travel, and activities.
• Ensure a safe, organized athletic environment while managing budget and resources.
• Commit to spiritual leadership, devotionals, and faith-based discussions as appropriate.
• Maintain compliance with school policies and athletic regulations.
