Design real-world systems used in industrial facilities and large-scale data centers across North America.

Schebler's Chimney Systems Division is adding experienced designers. You'll design mechanical assemblies in Autodesk Inventor for engineered metal systems that must meet specific codes and internal requirements, supporting data centers, industrial facilities, and manufacturing plants.

Our systems carry a real learning curve, so new designers get time to learn our products, codes, and standards before working independently. Over time, you'll own designs from model to manufacturing and help newer team members grow.

For more than 137 years, Schebler Company has been designing and manufacturing highly engineered metal systems that support critical infrastructure throughout the United States. Schebler has no plans to sell or relocate, and as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company, our employees share directly in the success of the business.

What You'll Do
  • Design mechanical assemblies in Autodesk Inventor from customer specifications
  • Create systems that meet applicable codes and Schebler's internal design requirements
  • Develop submittal drawings and coordination models using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Produce manufacturing-ready drawings for fabrication and production teams
  • Review designs, including your own and others', for accuracy, code compliance, quality, and manufacturability
  • Work with engineers, project managers, and customers to refine designs
  • Share knowledge with and support drafters and newer designers
  • Support projects used in industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, and data center infrastructure
What We're Looking For
  • Associate's degree in CAD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3–5 years of drafting experience preferred
  • 1–4 years of experience creating mechanical assemblies in Autodesk Inventor preferred
  • Experience designing systems to specific codes, standards, or internal requirements
  • Mechanical engineering or engineering technician background is a plus
  • Strong AutoCAD skills
  • Sheet metal or fabricated metal design experience is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Why Join Schebler?
  • Employee Ownership (ESOP): Schebler is 100% employee-owned. You're not just an employee, you're an owner.
  • 137-Year Legacy: A stable, well-established company with no plans to sell.
  • Meaningful Projects: Design systems used in large-scale industrial and infrastructure facilities, including data centers.
  • Career Growth Opportunities: Many team members build long careers here and grow into advanced design, engineering, or project leadership roles.
  • Benefits: 401(k) with company match; PTO; paid holidays; group health, dental, and vision insurance; company-paid term life insurance; voluntary benefits including short-term and long-term disability, AD&D, FSA/dependent care, and more.
  • Work-Life Balance: Monday–Friday schedule with a collaborative and supportive team environment.

This is an on-site position in Bettendorf, IA. Relocation assistance is not available.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to communicate information clearly in speaking and writing
  • Ability to see details at close range
