Job summary

Florida State University's Ringling Museum of Art (a department of FSU) seeks an HVAC/Facilities Technician to monitor the Chilled Water Plant, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to emergencies. The role includes shift work, on-call duties, and collaboration with the Facilities team to keep campus buildings safe and efficient.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, HVAC knowledge, and ability to lift 50 pounds, with a valid Florida driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; technical or vocational degree may substitute.
• HVAC knowledge and experience preferred, including centralized systems and DDC controls.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor.
• Valid Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain before hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate Chilled Water Plant HVAC systems; maintain logs and optimize energy use.
• Perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment; troubleshoot piping and mechanical issues.
• Be on-call outside normal hours to respond to emergencies and required adjustments at the chiller plant.
• Generate and respond to emails and work orders; update progress daily.
• Assist with miscellaneous facilities tasks and grounds work to support museum operations.
