Job summary

Heart of the Valley YMCA is seeking a childcare/Youth program assistant in Madison, AL to supervise children aged 8 weeks to 12 years within the Y-Tikes and Y-Zone centers. You will promote YMCA values, ensure safety, and deliver structured activities while coordinating with the front desk and Youth and Family Services Director.

The role requires at least 1 year of child care experience, 16+ years old, and CPR/First Aid certification within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Certifications required within 60 days of hire: CPR and First Aid.
• At least 16 years old.
• Minimum of 1-year experience working with children ages 2 months to 12 years old.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and safety procedures per YMCA policies.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and promote the YMCA mission to children, parents and community.
• Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants.
• Supervise children in the day-to-day operations of the Y-Tikes and Y-Zone center and related activities.
• Lead children in structured activities and ensure safety and positive behavior.
• Follow safety policies and report any concerns or incidents.
• Open the child watch center on time and maintain sign-in logs.
• Ensure clean, safe environments and complete required paperwork.
