Job summary

Heart of the Valley YMCA in Huntsville, AL is seeking individuals to support our Child Development Center. You will promote the YMCA mission, create a safe, engaging environment, and follow abuse prevention guidelines while interacting with children, families and staff.

Responsibilities include implementing age-appropriate curriculum, maintaining clean spaces, and coordinating with team members to ensure quality experiences.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and promote the YMCA mission to employees, volunteers and the community.
• Promote a safe and positive atmosphere during scheduled hours.
• Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
• Complete required abuse risk management training.
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with children.
• Implement curriculum for age-appropriate groups per policies.
• Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for diverse backgrounds.
• Ensure diverse program experiences for children daily.
• Maintain appropriate discipline through positive communication.
• Meet children's individual needs with dignity and respect.
• Keep equipment and supplies arranged and in good condition.
• Assist children with eating, dressing, napping and toileting routines.
• Maintain classroom appearance and learning environments per YMCA/DHR.
• Keep the program clean and sanitary for health and safety.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings at the Center.
• Support ongoing educational requirements through orientation and training.
• Model ethical behavior and YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
