Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Childwatch Counselor to provide a safe, welcoming environment for children while parents participate in programs. You will supervise, implement activities, and support families in a busy childcare setting.

This part-time role requires at least 18 years old, a high school diploma, and certifications in CPR/First Aid/AED. You will follow YMCA policies, maintain records, and work closely with staff to deliver quality youth services in Houston.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 6 months of experience working with youth in childcare or similar settings.
• Must pass CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
• Ability to engage with children positively and create a learning environment.
• Background and FBI fingerprint checks required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children to ensure safety in Childwatch.
• Implement age-appropriate activities from YMCA curriculum.
• Maintain attendance, incident reports and compliance records.
• Follow YMCA policies on health, safety and confidentiality.
• Check children in/out using designated software and assist with devices.
