YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a part-time Childwatch Counselor in Katy, TX. Join a mission-driven team dedicated to fostering safe, engaging experiences for children while families participate in YMCA programs.

You will supervise children, implement age-appropriate activities, and maintain records under supervision. The role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and positive family interactions within a welcoming YMCA environment.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications or willingness to obtain them
• Experience with youth in childcare, church or school settings preferred
• Know how to maintain records (attendance, incidents)
• Ability to engage diverse populations and provide a welcoming environment
• Background check and TB/immunization requirements as per policy

Responsibilities

• Supervise children in a safe, welcoming environment and monitor activities
• Implement age-appropriate activities per curriculum and encourage positive interactions
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and documentation for attendance and incidents
• Adhere to YMCA policies, health, safety, and child protection protocols
• Assist with daily operations and communicate with Lead staff
• Model YMCA values and build positive relationships with families
• Complete administrative duties like sign-in/sign-out processes and device checks
• Respond to emergencies and escalate per protocol
• Participate in staff trainings and meetings
