YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring a Part-time Childwatch Counselor in Houston. The role focuses on providing a safe, engaging environment for children while parents take part in YMCA programs.

You will supervise, implement activities, and ensure smooth sign-in/out processes, contributing to a positive, inclusive YMCA experience. The position requires 18+ age, basic childcare experience, and certifications in CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required or able to obtain.
• Experience working with youth or in childcare preferred.
• Ability to follow YMCA policies and safety protocols.
• Ability to engage with children positively and create a respectful environment.
• Pass a local/state background check and TB screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision to children in a safe, welcoming Childwatch setting.
• Implement age-appropriate activities and encourage positive interactions.
• Assist with check-in/out using designated software and maintain attendance records.
• Respond to emergencies following YMCA protocols and communicate with guardians.
• Support lead staff and participate in meetings and trainings.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the Childwatch area.
