Grand Prairie Family YMCA is hiring a Part‑Time Child Watch Attendant for the Mountain View Dallas College Campus Child Watch in Grand Prairie, TX. You will supervise children, ensure safety, and create a playful environment in line with YMCA policies.

The role requires 16+ years of age, the ability to lift up to 30 lbs, and certifications in CPR/First Aid among others. Shifts include mornings and early afternoons with some flexibility for staff meetings and training.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• Must have positive attitude and follow directions.
• Relates well to children, members and staff.
• Ability to plan age-appropriate games and activities.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogen and Child Abuse/Drug & Alcohol training certifications required.

Description

Enjoy watching kids, playing games, and keeping things fun? We are currently taking applications for a Child Watch Attendant at the new Mountain View Dallas College Child Watch. The Child Watch Attendant supervises children in the YMCA member nursery. This position is responsible for providing safe and enjoyable childcare for members and their children in accordance with the YMCA Mission and policies of the association. Maintain visual and auditory supervision at all times. He/She must be responsible for the safety and well being of each child under their supervision and maintain a creative and playful atmosphere for all participants. They plan and supervise the activities of children and perform general housekeeping tasks and maintain clean and safe area.

Child Watch Attendants are required to know and follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures. He/She must attend staff meetings and training programs, as required.

REQUIREMENTS

• Child Watch Attendants are required to be a minimum of 16 years of age.
• Have a positive attitude and follows directions.
• Relates to children, members and other staff in a positive manner.
• Ability to plan and initiate age appropriate games and activities.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to adjust from sitting to standing with ease.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
• They must be able to receive and maintain CPR, First Aid, AED, Blood borne Pathogen, Child Abuse Training & Drug and Alcohol Abuse training certifications.
• Six months or more previous experience with children preferred.

Additional Information

• Child Watch hours of operation:
  • Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM and1 :00 PM – 5:00 PM
• Candidates must be available for most of these shifts.
• Must be flexible, dependable, and have a positive, can-do attitude
