Job summary

KidStrong in Scottsdale, AZ seeks energetic coaches to lead classes for children aged 12 months to 11 years, using our brain, physical, and character curriculum. You will engage parents, maintain safety, and ensure classes run on time.

Experience coaching kids, speaking with parents about the curriculum, and CPR certification are highly valued. Flexibility for part-time or full-time work and opportunities to advance exist.

Qualifications

  • Passion for working with children is non‑negotiable.
  • Prior coaching experience with kids in the 12 months to 11 years range is preferred.
  • Experience speaking to and educating parents on the KidStrong curriculum.
  • Knowledge of physiology, exercise techniques, and body mechanics.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Positive, motivating interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Self‑starter who gets the job done.

Responsibilities

  • Coach classes of 6–15 children aged 12 months to 11 years.
  • Teach the KidStrong curriculum as provided by HQ.
  • Ensure classes start and end on schedule and pace.
  • Greet students and guardians before class.
  • Maintain a dynamic, professional demeanor during sessions.
  • Demonstrate and manage exercises safely.
  • Keep the center clean and sanitize equipment after use.
  • Record class data using the KS Coach’s App for parents.
  • Communicate professionally with staff via Slack.
  • Complete required HQ training and certifications.

Role and Schedule Details
  • Coach with athletic or coaching experience, ideally coaching kids ages 12 months to 11 years old.
  • Focus on coaching children in brain, physical, and character development based on the evolving monthly curriculum.
  • Comfortable speaking to parents/guardians to explain the curriculum.
  • Classes run weekdays 9 am‑11 am and evenings until 7 pm; weekends 8 am through lunch/noon.
  • Opportunity for a flexible work schedule depending on studio needs.
  • Additional opportunity to increase scheduled hours through private party coaching.
  • Prior experience as a pediatric OT/PT is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
  • Coach class sizes of 6 to 15 children, age range 12 months to 11 years old.
  • Teach the KidStrong curriculum as provided by the HQ programming team.
  • Ensure classes start and end on schedule and follow the appropriate pace of curriculum.
  • Greet students and their parent(s)/guardian(s) individually prior to and at the beginning of class.
  • Maintain a dynamic, fun, motivational, and professional demeanor when leading the class.
  • Demonstrate and manage the implementation of various exercises.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the center, including lobby, bathrooms, and floors—take out trash, sweep, mop, wipe down equipment, and sanitize the mat at the end of shift.
  • Use the KS Coach’s App to record class data and provide records of data for parents (attendance, awards, etc.).
  • Communicate professionally with co‑workers in Slack, including periodic checks of messages when not in centers.
  • Complete training through FranConnect as required by the HQ Training and Certification team.
  • Work in a physically intensive environment—coaches may cover multiple miles in a shift, moving equipment up to 25 lb.
  • Comfortable working “hands‑on” with kids to ensure proper technique and student safety.
  • Assist parents of students ages three and younger with direction and flow of class.
  • Attend monthly center staff programming meetings to receive training for next month’s curriculum.
  • Attend additional mandatory staff meetings as required by the KidStrong Director.
  • Learn and manage Coach KidStrong Academy—special classes held by centers when local schools are not operating (e.g., winter break, summer break).
  • Obtain certified status by the HQ Training and Certification team.

Compensation: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
