Job summary

The Sedalia Public Library is seeking a dynamic Children’s Librarian to join our busy team. This full-time role focuses on creating engaging programs for children and youth aged 0-18 and building a love of reading across the community.

You will collaborate with families, plan innovative activities, and support literacy initiatives while occasionally working evenings and weekends. Some college in library science or related fields is preferred, and training is provided for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development for ages 0-18.
• Desire to offer innovative and engaging programs for children and youth.
• Willingness to learn current library theories and literacy practices.
• Ability to build rapport with children, youth, parents and communicate clearly.
• Dependable, organized, learner, motivated, energetic; advocate for the library.
• Knowledge of various forms of technology and willingness to learn.
• Ability to multi-task, solve problems and manage time effectively.
• Experience planning programs for children and young adults is highly helpful.
