Job summary

The DC Department of Human Resources seeks an experienced Children and Teen Librarian to support the efficient operation of libraries for youth. This position involves planning and conducting programming as well as providing reference services to children and teens in the Washington area.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Library Information Science and possess at least three years of library experience working directly with young populations.

Additionally, strong communication skills and proficiency in various software tools are essential. Competitive salary and benefits package included.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Information Science from an accredited ALA program.
• 3+ years of experience working in a library environment, with children and/or teens.
• Knowledge of public library principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference services and programming for children and teens.
• Conduct outreach to local schools and organizations.
• Manage the branch's physical collection for children and teens.

Education
