Job description

Description

Note: This role is eligible for a $10,000 sign-on & retention bonus as well as student loan repayment.

Introduction

The mental health system is overrun by corporate interests prioritizing profit over quality care. Non-clinical leaders in large clinics lack understanding of effective therapy, leaving clinicians overworked, undervalued, and without autonomy. The focus on unchecked growth sacrifices quality, discouraging excellence and collaboration. Without meaningful change, careers and the field risk collapse.

Lorenz Clinic has some of the best clinicians in Minnesota, so we know what it takes to sustain clinicians and do quality work. First, Lorenz gives you time—paid burnout time, consultation time, paid time off, paid holidays, paid CEU time, paid service day, up to twelve weeks paid parental leave, and more. Next, Lorenz provides autonomy, choice, and control over your workload. Then, Lorenz ensures sufficient social rewards for a job well done, including a sense of community and identity built around our selective hiring process. Our selectiveness ensures you'll be surrounded by smart, inspiring therapists. Finally, our workplace is committed to fairness and internal equity, driven by core values of quality therapy, not business interests.

Make a difference on Main Street, not Wall Street. Apply with us and contribute to something real—clinician-led and sustainable. Join us and never give up hope for what mental healthcare could be.

About Lorenz Clinic

Lorenz aims to heal the world one relationship at a time—to be the best clinic in Minnesota, not the biggest. We’re a regional leader in clinical services and training, known for our innovative approach to clinician development. We were the first Family Psychology specialty clinic in the North and pioneered organized Post-Master’s Fellowships in Minnesota. Recognized as one of the best post-degree training programs, we uphold high standards and are highly selective in our hiring.

Our diverse team values continuous growth and change. Many clinicians and trainees prefer working here because of our high ideals. Our training center energizes the entire organization. We aspire to become a leading national family institute, influencing the field through research, training, and therapy, with a lasting impact on children, adults, families, and couples in Minnesota.

About Our Day Treatment

Our Early Childhood Day Treatment Program supports children ages 3-7 with PTSD, using the Developmental Repair model. The program offers a structured, therapeutic environment for healing, growth, and skill-building, addressing emotional and relational needs caused by trauma.

Key components include:

  • Individualized Treatment Plans tailored to each child's needs
  • Therapeutic Play and Activities facilitated by trained therapists
  • Caregiver Involvement through family therapy and education
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration among mental health professionals

Group sessions are held Monday through Thursday, fostering safety and social learning in small groups. Our goal is to help children develop emotional regulation, trust, and resilience for lifelong well-being.

About the Role

Psychotherapists at Lorenz deliver assessment and intervention, working within their areas of expertise. Our clinics serve communities with access disparities; 43% of clients are on Medicaid, with a sliding fee schedule. We maintain a strong consultation and professional development schedule, emphasizing evidence-based practices. Our clinicians highly recommend our practice, citing the quality of people and supportive environment.

This role involves providing intensive group psychological services to children, leading a trauma-focused early childhood team for ages 3-6, using the Developmental Repair model. Responsibilities include diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, psychotherapy, discharge planning, and participating in team meetings and case consultations.

  • At least one year of experience in day treatment (preferred)
  • Experience with models like Developmental Repair, CPP, TF-CBT, or FFT (preferred)
  • Two years of clinical supervision experience (preferred)
  • Formal training in child, family, or couples therapy (preferred)

Full-time, licensed clinicians enjoy comprehensive benefits, including:

  • Student Loan Repayment
  • Paid Burnout Time
  • Up to 12 weeks paid parental leave
  • Annual CEU allowance
  • 401k with matching
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
