Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a Student Maintenance Assistant to support housekeeping, minor repairs, and outdoor upkeep for the Children’s Center buildings. The role operates in a campus setting with guidance provided and requires a responsible student with a focus on safety.

Responsibilities include cleaning, organizing supplies, yardwork, and occasional support in classrooms and kitchens. The candidate must meet health, immunization, and background checks as part of the onboarding process.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a student with minimum 6 units at Sacramento State.
• Must be at least 18 years old per law.
• Cleared Criminal Background required.
• Current Health Screening hours.
• Proof of immunizations (Measles and Pertussis).
• TB Clearance proof required.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping and minor repairs.
• Outdoor maintenance of center buildings.
• Dust cleaning of offices, lobby, staff room, and conference rooms.
• Restock janitor’s closet and cleaning supplies.
• Empty outdoor trash on play yards; trim bushes and gardens.
• Assist with laundry and kitchen areas.
• Willing to assist in classrooms, office, and kitchen as needed.

SUMMARY:

With minimal guidance, the maintenance person will perform housekeeping, minor repairs, outdoor maintenance of the Children’s Center buildings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Read, understand, and implement the philosophy and information contained in the ASI Children’s Center Student Handbook, Training manual, and the ASI Policy Manual. Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
• Dust clean and dust offices, lobby, staff room, and conference rooms.
• Light housekeeping tasks in classrooms and Bella Room.
• Organize and restock Janitor’s closet and cleaning supplies.
• Empty outdoor trash on all play yards.
• Trim bushes, shrubs, and work in the gardens.
• Make minor repairs.
• Assist with laundry and kitchen areas.
• Willing to help out in classrooms, office, and kitchen as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at Sacramento State; maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA overall (for Student Assistant incumbents)
• Per law must be at least 18 years of age
• Cleared Criminal Background
• Current Health Screening hours
• Must be able to provide proof of immunizations (Measles and Pertussis-whooping cough)
• Able to provide proof of TB Clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience with maintenance/repair/and or housekeeping tasks.
