Job Location: Children's Receiving Home - Sacramento, CA 95821. Position Type: Full Time. Education Level: High School. Salary Range: $20.00 - $22.00 Hourly. Travel Percentage: Negligible. Job Category: Facilities. Position: Maintenance Technician. Department: Facilities. Reports To: Operations & Maintenance Manager. FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Operation & Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician performs skilled & semi-skilled upkeep and repair tasks on the Children's Receiving Home (CRH) buildings and grounds. In the absence of the Operations & Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician will provide backup.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform routine repairs and preventive maintenance duties, including drywall repair, painting, minor electrical repairs, concrete, mill work, lock smith, plumbing, basic carpentry, and window repair
  • Knowledge of the use and operation and maintenance of all hand tools
  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all powered and non-powered equipment associated with the care of Children’s Receiving Home (CRH) campus
  • Provide support to CRH staff by completing work orders via Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Coordinate with CRH staff to ensure timing of work causes minimal disruption for clients and staff
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting physical plant equipment issues as needed
  • Responsible for maintaining clean aesthetic of indoor and outdoor areas of all CRH buildings and grounds
  • Keep inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, and report needs to supervisor
  • Work with and maintain relationships with third party contracted vendors
  • Respond to emergency calls for maintenance and repairs
  • Comply with California OSHA safety and CRH health regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Ability to use relevant equipment and hand tools & power tools to perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks involving a basic
  • Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems (HVAC, appliances, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret California OSHA & CRH safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, user manuals, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from supervisors
  • Ability to maintain a professional, confidential work environment
  • Ability to maintain attendance at assigned location(s)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time in an efficient manner, setting priorities based on importance
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow oral and written instruction
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, children, and the public
  • Ability to work outside of normal work hours on occasion for business needs
  • Language Ability: Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, residence, or employees of organization.

  • Education/Experience: A high school diploma or GED is required. Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience.
Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass First Aid certification course before start of employment.
  • Must pass CPR within the first six weeks of employment.
  • Must pass Bloodborne Pathogens and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification courses offered through the Children’s Receiving Home within the first three months of employment.
  • Must maintain TCI, CPR, First Aid and BBP Certification throughout employment.
  • Must complete online Mandated Reporter Training within first week of employment.
