Job Summary

A childcare worker at our church provides a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment where children feel loved and cared for while their families engage in worship and ministry. Through patience, warmth, and attentiveness, they reflect Christ’s love and support the spiritual well‑being of both children and parents.

Compensation

$15 per hour; 401k with 4% employer match.

Essential Functions
  • Provide safe and attentive care by ensuring each child’s physical safety through active supervision, proper procedures, and age‑appropriate care at all times.
  • Create a nurturing environment by offering warmth, patience, and encouragement so children feel welcomed, valued, and emotionally secure.
  • Communicate with parents and team members by sharing relevant information about a child’s needs, behavior, or concerns while working collaboratively with other caregivers.
  • Support development and routine by engaging children in appropriate activities, following established schedules, and assisting with basic needs such as snacks, play, and transitions.
Other Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in ongoing personal and professional development through training, reading, coaching, or mentoring.
  • Collaborate across ministries to ensure alignment, share resources, and strengthen unity on our staff teams.
  • Demonstrate and model Christ Church’s core values in daily work, relationships, and service to others.
  • Contribute to a culture of grace, care, and prayer by supporting, encouraging, and praying with staff, volunteers, and congregants as appropriate.
  • Arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start of the service or event.
  • Welcome families warmly and assist with child check‑in.
  • Receive, document, and follow parent instructions for each child.
  • Ensure proper staffing by accepting children only when another caregiver is present.
  • Provide attentive, interactive, and age‑appropriate care.
  • Support a Christ‑centered environment that reflects God’s love to each child.
  • Assist and actively participate in lessons, crafts, games, music, and activities.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly room, including toy sanitization and end‑of‑day cleanup.
  • Change diapers in accordance with established procedures.
  • Remain in assigned areas unless authorized by a supervisor.
  • Release children only to authorized adults with proper verification.
  • Follow all safety, evacuation, and child protection policies.
  • Respect church facilities and maintain appropriate conduct at all times.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience: 1–2 years working with infant to preschool‑aged children. Active participation in a Christian church, preschool, or daycare facility is encouraged.
