Job summary

Children's Aid in New York, NY seeks a Cook & Facilities Support for the Early Childhood program. This part-time role handles meal preparation, safe storage, and classroom snack packaging, ensuring CACFP/DOE/DOHMH compliance and food safety.

The position also supports custodial duties, facility cleanliness, and routine maintenance while collaborating with the Food Service Manager and Central Facilities team to ensure a healthy environment for children and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid NYS DOH Food Handler's License required.
• Minimum of one year in food service or custodial/facilities support.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and store meals per approved menus and guidelines.
• Prepare daily snacks from scratch and package for classroom use.
• Maintain clean, sanitary kitchen and storage areas and document food safety data.
• Monitor temperatures, inventory, and deliveries; report issues to leadership.
• Assist with minor facility upkeep and safety compliance tasks.
• Support health, safety, and compliance with Head Start and regulatory standards.
