Job summary

The Learning Experience is seeking a part-time Chef/Cook to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children in our early childhood education center. You will manage daily food preparation, kitchen sanitation, inventory, and meal service while following nutrition, food safety, and childcare requirements.

Responsibilities include following menus, monitoring inventory, and coordinating with teachers to ensure smooth meal transitions, while maintaining CACFP records where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Food service experience in childcare center or similar setting preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe handling.
• Ability to follow menus, recipes, portions, and nutrition guidelines.
• Food Handler or equivalent certification where required.
• Must meet licensing, background screening, health, and training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks.
• Provide consistent, timely meal service and CACFP records when applicable.
• Monitor inventory, supplies, and ordering.
• Maintain food temperatures and safe storage practices.
• Coordinate with teachers to support mealtime transitions.
• Maintain organized kitchen and proper storage of food and supplies.
