Job summary

Ymca Of Reading & Berks County in Leesport, PA is hiring for a childcare role. Starting pay is $15-$18 per hour with $3 per hour add-on for split shifts, and positions span Reading, Mifflin, Adamstown, and Tri Valley. Great for education majors, retirees, or those who enjoy working with kids.

Qualifications

• Must meet Pennsylvania childcare qualifications as described (Group Supervisor/Assistant qualifications).
• Ability to communicate professionally in English, both written and spoken.
• Lift up to 60 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Ability to reach a child from 30 feet in 10 seconds without health risk.
• Demonstrates good decision making, reliability and professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Follow YMCA policies and state regulations for child care centers.
• Attend trainings and adhere to risk management policies.
• Report concerns to Center Director promptly.
• Establish positive classroom management and supervise children.
• Ensure safety and well-being of children through supervision and interactions.
• Use positive guidance, redirection, and age-appropriate discipline.
• Assist in program records, lesson plans, and staff trainings.
• Participate in field trips, swimming, and food service activities.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and organized spaces.
• Communicate with and greet parents; report concerns to supervisors.

Education

High school diploma or GED + 30 credit hours in ECE/child development/education/human services

High school diploma or GED + 600 hours of secondary training in ECE (3270.31 (c))

High school diploma or GED + 15 college credits in ECE + 1 year experience with children

High school diploma or GED + post-secondary training curriculum described in 3270.31 (c)

High school diploma or GED + 2 years experience with children
