Job summary

ABC Kids' Academy is seeking a dedicated Childcare Cook to prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals for preschoolers and staff. You will follow approved menus, CACFP guidelines, and food safety procedures in a busy morning kitchen.

This part-time role runs Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 12:30 pm, with responsibilities including meal preparation, portion control, allergy awareness, cleanliness, record-keeping, and coordination with management. A state-required training requirement is included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in childcare, school, or commercial kitchen preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, allergy precautions, and age-appropriate preparation.
• Ability to follow menus, recipes, and documentation accurately.
• Dependable attendance, punctuality, organization, and communication.
• Ability to complete required background screening and training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks per approved menus and schedule.
• Follow recipes, portion sizes, and age-appropriate meal instructions.
• Review allergies/dietary restrictions and substitutions; prevent cross-contact.
• Prepare foods in appropriate sizes/textures to reduce choking risks.
• Follow sanitation procedures, temperature controls, and storage guidelines.
• Check and record food, fridge, and freezer temperatures.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils; complete cleaning schedules.
• Maintain meal counts, production records, inventory, and documentation.
• Monitor expiration dates; rotate stock and minimize waste.
• Receive deliveries; report damaged, expired, or unsafe items.
• Communicate delays, supply needs, or safety concerns to management.
• Keep chemicals secured away from food; supervise keeping kids out of kitchen.
• Obtain owner approval before removing food or supplies.
• Serve as Floater; assist with other duties as needed.
