Job summary

Chroma Early Learning Academy in Ellenwood, GA is seeking a dedicated childcare cook to prepare nutritious meals for young children and support teachers and staff.

You will plan menus, manage a small kitchen, ensure food safety and CACFP compliance, handle budgeting, and accommodate allergies and dietary needs. Occasional classroom help and staff breaks may be required.

Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks that meet children's nutritional needs and dietary restrictions (CACFP).
• Menu Planning: Develop seasonal and age-appropriate menus in line with guidelines.
• Kitchen Management: Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization per safety regulations.
• Inventory & Supplies: Manage inventory, place orders, and maintain kitchen budget.
• Collaboration: Work with staff to accommodate dietary needs and meal schedules.
• Compliance: Follow health and safety regulations, proper storage, and portion control.
• Support: Occasionally work in a classroom and assist staff with breaks.

About This Role

Chroma Early Learning Academy is a nurturing and inclusive environment dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children. As part of this mission, we are looking for a dedicated Childcare Cook to prepare nutritious and balanced meals for our little ones and also provide support to teachers and staff.

What You'll Do

• Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks that meet children's nutritional needs and dietary restrictions (allergies, sensitivities, etc.) and CACFP guidelines and policies.


• Menu Planning: Develop seasonal and age-appropriate menus in line with national nutritional guidelines and parental preferences.


• Kitchen Management: Ensure the kitchen is kept clean, sanitized, and organized, adhering to food safety regulations and childcare center policies.


• Inventory & Supplies: Manage food inventory, order supplies, and maintain a budget for kitchen expenses.


• Collaboration: Work closely with the childcare staff to accommodate special dietary needs and ensure meal schedules are met.


• Compliance: Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food storage, hygiene standards, and meal portion control.


• Support: Will occasionally work in a classroom and provide staff breaks and support staff with assistance.

Requirements

• Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, especially within a childcare, school, or similar setting.

• Qualities: Patience, creativity in meal planning, attention to detail, and a genuine love for working around children.


• Education: High School Diploma/GED


• Age: 18+years
