Job summary

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Childcare Assistant Teacher for the Growing Up At Obici childcare center in Suffolk, VA. This full-time role (Mon-Fri, 40 hours) involves assisting the teacher, following the curriculum, and supporting lesson planning to positively impact children's early years.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or equivalent; CDA coursework is preferred. Certifications include Food Handlers, BLS, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CDA coursework or college-level study in child development or related fields preferred.
• 1 year childcare experience required or relevant.
• Must follow curriculum and assist with lesson planning and classroom activities.
• Certification with 90 days of hire for Food Service and BLS within 30 days of hire.

Overview:

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Childcare Assistant Teacher for our Growing Up At Obici childcare center.

Full-Time Mon - Fri 40 hours / week

The Assistant Teacher is knowledgeable of developmental early childhood methods and is responsible for assisting the teacher in the care and learning of children and developing lesson plans while following the curriculum. The Assistant Teacher assists with day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. This is a great opportunity for creativity and impacting children positively in their early years.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent (Required)

College level course work in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, psychology, or completion of Child Development Associate Credential (CDA). (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

Driver’s License - Certification - Other/National
Food Handlers Card - Certification - Food Service Certification w/in 90 days of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI w/in 30 days of hire

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $17.78 - $25.53 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
