Job summary

The Sunshine House in Mint Hill, NC is seeking a Childcare Assistant Director to lead daily operations and ensure licensing compliance while partnering with families to deliver high-quality care and early education. You will support teachers, oversee records, and help run classrooms with a team-focused approach.

Ideal candidates have an Associate's degree in ECE or related field, plus EDU119/NCECC certification and Admin 1 & 2 coursework. Competitive pay and growth opportunities offered.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in ECE or related field required.
• EDU119 or NCECC certificate required.
• Admin 1 & 2 coursework and management experience preferred.
• Previous experience as administrator in a licensed childcare center required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the daily operations of childcare school, ensuring licensing requirements and company policies are met.
• Perform administrative duties, conduct tours for families, maintain records and ensure licensing/policy compliance.
• Partner with families to provide high-quality care and education for children.
• Support teachers in implementing the curriculum and maintaining developmentally appropriate classrooms.
• Nurture positive relationships with families, staff, licensing representatives, and the community.
• Work in the classroom when needed to assist and support staff.

Compensation & Pay Range: $19-$22 per hour (based on education, experience, and credentials). Candidates with advanced education and experience in early childhood education may qualify for higher pay within the range. Regular increases are considered with additional education, stellar performance, and years of service.

Assistant Director Responsibilities

• Help manage the daily operations of childcare school, ensuring we meet state licensing requirements and company policies.
• Perform administrative duties, give impactful tours to families, maintain records, ensure state licensing/policy compliance, and help keep everything running smoothly.
• Partner with families to provide the best care and education for their children.
• Support teachers in implementing our curriculum, enabling developmentally appropriate classrooms that spark curiosity and growth.
• Nurture positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing representatives, and the community.
• Work in the classroom when needed to assist and support staff.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
• EDU119 or NCECC certificate required.
• Completion of Admin 1 & 2 coursework and experience managing a licensed childcare center preferred.
• Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center setting as an administrator required.
• Proficient computer skills in a variety of business-related programs, including Microsoft Office.
• A passion for providing high-quality care and education!
• Must be at least 21 years old
