Job summary

Commander, Navy Installations Command seeks a developmental caregiver for CY programs, serving ages 6 weeks to 18 years. You will assist and mentor CY Program Assistants, applying developmentally appropriate practices and safety protocols under supervision.

The role requires knowledge of child/youth development, experience with program planning, emergency response, and English communication. Training and curriculum development skills are essential components of the position.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs to meet needs of 6 weeks to 18 years.
  • Knowledge of child and youth development principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Skills to apply Federal and State laws governing detection and prevention of child abuse/neglect.
  • Ability to identify interests and motivation of individuals and groups in a CYP environment.
  • Ability to plan programs, organize, and schedule employees.
  • Skills to provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to CY Program staff.
  • Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to train employees on recognition of childhood illnesses and child abuse.
  • Ability to develop curriculum outlines and lesson plans/guides.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • One year of experience at the CY-02 level or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized developmental care and instruction for children and youth in CY programs.
  • Mentor and guide CY Program Assistants as needed.
  • Work under supervision with guidance on complex, nonroutine problems.
  • Coordinate program activities to meet KSAs and program goals.
