The U.S. Department of the Navy seeks an incumbent to provide specialized developmental care and instruction for children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years in one or more CY programs.

The role includes guidance and mentoring for CY Program Assistants and works under the supervision of a qualified higher graded employee. Candidates should demonstrate KSAs related to developmentally appropriate programming, child and youth development principles, ability to train staff on child health and safety,

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs for 6 weeks to 18 years.
  • Knowledge of child and youth development principles and practices.
  • Ability to apply laws on detection and prevention of child abuse/neglect.
  • Ability to understand interests and motivation of individuals/groups in CYP.
  • Skill in program planning, organizing, and employee scheduling.
  • Ability to provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to CY staff.
  • Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to train employees on issues including illness and abuse awareness.
  • Ability to develop curriculum outlines and lesson plans.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized developmental care and instruction for children and youth.
  • Mentor and guide CY Program Assistants under supervision.
  • Assist in program planning, scheduling, and facilitating activities.
