Qualifications

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs to meet physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of children and youth from 6 weeks to 18 years.
  • Knowledge of child and youth development principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Ability to apply federal and state laws governing the detection and prevention of child abuse and/or neglect.
  • Ability to understand interests and motivation of individuals and groups in a CYP environment.
  • Ability to plan programs, organize activities, and schedule employees.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and guide CY Program staff.
  • Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to train employees on issues including illness recognition and child abuse prevention.
  • Ability to develop curriculum outlines and lesson plans/guides.
  • Excellent English communication, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized developmental care and instruction for children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years.
  • Mentor CY Program Assistants and provide guidance as needed.
  • Follow supervisor guidance on scope of assignments and handling complex problems.
  • Train staff on relevant topics including illness recognition and child abuse prevention.
