Job description

The purpose of the Child and Youth Program Custodian position is to provide a variety of semiskilled labor and cleaning tasks for the CYP facilities, including Child Development Centers (CDCs), School Age Care (SAC) programs, Youth Programs, Child Development Home (CDH) offices, and lending libraries.

Duties

All custodial and housekeeping services will be performed according to established specifications. Child and youth routines will not be disturbed by custodial activities. Some cleaning services will be scheduled when programs are not in operation and children and youth are not present. The CYP custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment and supplies. These tasks include:

• Performing cleaning tasks to meet specified standards.
• Ensuring that cleaning routines do not interfere with child and youth activities.
• Maintaining and using cleaning equipment and supplies properly.

Cleaning Requirements

• Must pass all background checks, including fingerprint, Tier 1 Child Care check, and SCHR check.
• Must pass E-Verify employment verification; discrepancies must be resolved prior to employment.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide immunization evidence, and be free of communicable diseases.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.
• Must complete required training and maintain certifications as per DoD Child and Youth Programs standards.
• Starting May 7, 2025, access requires a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or acceptable ID (review documents for details).
