Job summary

Contra Costa County’s Employment and Human Services Department is seeking four Social Work Supervisor II to lead teams of Social Worker II & III, manage programs, and ensure high-quality case management. This role requires directing staff, setting expectations, and coaching.

Candidates should have a Master’s in Social Work or related fields, and at least three years of advanced social casework, with knowledge of child welfare policies. The department values diversity and timely services.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work or related field with specialization in Marriage, Family Therapy or a social/human services field.
• Three (3) years of full-time complex and specialized social casework experience in a public/private human services agency equivalent to a Contra Costa County Social Worker III.

Responsibilities

• Supervising a team of Social Worker II & III professionals, along with clerical and support personnel.
• Establishing clear performance expectations, tracking and coaching staff progress, and resolving conflicts effectively.
• Managing individual programs and facilitating both individual supervision meetings and group meetings.
• Understanding and interpreting County, State, and Federal Child Welfare policies and protocols, and training staff on policy and protocol implementation.
• Participating in inter-agency meetings and County committees relevant to Child Welfare and juvenile dependency.
