Job summary

The Gaston Group, LLC is seeking a Child Protective Services Worker in North Carolina to provide night-shift coverage for the state’s Child Abuse Hotline, including weekends and holidays. The role involves interviewing reporters, reviewing information, and guiding next steps in line with state policy and DHHS guidance.

Responsibilities include conducting safety assessments, coordinating with law enforcement, ensuring timely reporting within required timeframes, and participating in MDT meetings

Qualifications

• MSW from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience.
• MSW with Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only).
• Master's degree in counseling or human services with two years related experience.
• BSW with Child Welfare Collaborative and one year related experience (Child Welfare positions).
• BSW from an accredited school of social work with two years related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a human services field with three years related experience.
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college and four years related experience.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain night duty schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays for the Child Abuse Hotline.
• Gather, document, and evaluate information from reporters and staff to assess abuse/neglect.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and prosecutors on joint investigations.
• Conduct safety assessments and plan for safety and well-being of children.
• Respond to after-hours referrals and emergencies for CPS and Foster Care.
• Invoke court action when needed and accompany law enforcement.
• Participate in multidisciplinary teams and trainings.
• Document activities and maintain case files with transcripts.
• Attend required MDT meetings and weekly unit staffing.
• Be available for emergency shelters as assigned.
