The position includes court appearances, case updates to attorneys, and continuous professional growth within a non-traditional schedule and on-call duties.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Option 2: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university plus two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • Option 3: 60 accredited college credit hours plus two (2) years relevant work experience.
  • Option 4: 90 accredited college credit hours plus one (1) year of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with children, families, and communities to plan for a child's permanency.
  • Supervises activities related to the treatment and needs of children/youth in care through regular home visits and phone calls.
  • Creates and monitors a plan of service for each family and involves the family in the creation of the plan.
  • Provides ongoing advocacy and support for the child's educational needs.
  • Uses tools to determine needs and makes appropriate referrals for testing, evaluations, records, or other assessments.
  • Coordinates regular contact between the child and his/her biological family as appropriate.
  • Participates in on-call rotation and duties.
  • Utilizes tools to identify resources for the child/youth/family and ensure connections are maintained with key individuals.
  • Identify kinship/fictive kin placement options and request home studies as needed.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences at convenient times for families.
  • Monitor placement needs and collaborate with Placement staff.
  • Meet with parents monthly to assess risk and safety issues; refer to services; discuss progress.
  • Meet with child(ren)/youth monthly to evaluate safety, services/resources, and plan for permanency.
  • Attends and participates in court hearings about the child and family.
  • Provide monthly updates to DFPS attorneys and other parties.
  • Provide notifications regarding significant events.
  • Document case records per policy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partners and professionals.
  • Adheres to mandated child abuse reporting laws.
  • Transition children home during reunification and support the family until case closure.
  • Work with kinship/fictive kin caregivers to ensure support outside business hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
