Job description

Join us as a Child Watch Attendant at YMCA of the Roses

We are hiring for Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5pm to 8pm, with occasional Saturdays and additional hours. The Child Watch Room provides a safe and engaging environment for children while parents use our branch facilities. Employees enjoy benefits such as free access to all branches' facilities, including outdoor pools, gym, and wellness centers, as well as program discounts and free Child Watch services up to 3 hours per day or camp/school-aged childcare for your children while you work.

Essential Functions:
  • Supervise and actively participate in children's activities
  • Follow safety and health policies; assist with routines and general development
  • Complete incident reports and practice infection control
  • Maintain a child-friendly environment and implement discipline techniques
  • Know fire and emergency procedures and respond accordingly
  • Maintain current Pediatric and Child CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Attend staff meetings and report suspected abuse
  • Prepare center materials and follow policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality and treat families with dignity and respect
  • Perform janitorial duties as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 6 months experience with children
  • Must obtain or have CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications
  • Mandated reporter training required
Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Must be in good physical and mental health, with a genuine interest in children's development. Physical requirements include climbing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, grasping, standing, lifting up to 30 pounds, and other movements necessary to perform the job effectively.
