Job summary

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Ellsworth, ME seeks a Human Services Enforcement Agent to locate non-custodial parents, establish paternity, and enforce child support obligations. This position offers telework after six months of training with approval, a state pay scale, and travel as required.

Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business or Public Administration, or a related field.
• Directly related paraprofessional or higher-level experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Locate non-custodial parents.
• Establish, enforce, and collect child support obligations.
• Establish the paternity of children born out of wedlock.
• Initiate administrative collection actions.
• Initiate appropriate court action.
• Represent the Department's interest in Maine District Court in matters pertaining to child support.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business or Public Administration, or a related field

Directly related paraprofessional or higher-level experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis
