Responsibilities include counseling clients, reviewing cases, assisting with applications, and coordinating with outside agencies. Travel and irregular hours may be required; a valid driver’s license is needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Counseling or related field.
• Two to four years of related experience.
• A four-year college degree may substitute for up to one year of required experience.
• Two years directly related experience may substitute for each year of education if applicable.
• Must have valid driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Advises and counsels clients and provides information regarding services and benefits; refers to outside agencies as needed.
• Receives, reviews, analyzes, and evaluates information; makes recommendations based on findings.
• Checks and certifies cases to ensure documentation and criteria are met.
• Assists clients in filing applications and acts as liaison with outside agencies.
• Writes appeals for determinations by federal, state, and local agencies.
• May oversee daily operations of departmental programs and transportation coordination.
• Participates in meetings with other agencies to share information and coordinate services.
• Corresponds with agencies to secure necessary documentation for claims and services.
• Conducts field trips to assist clients who cannot visit the office.
