Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology from an APA- or CPA-accredited program.
• Current Connecticut psychologist license or eligibility for Connecticut licensure.
• Experience conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations across a broad range of referral concerns.
• Advanced knowledge of psychological assessment and psychometric principles, including test selection, administration, interpretation, integration, and communication of findings.
• Strong clinical interviewing, diagnostic formulation, report writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Summary of Job:

The Psychologist is responsible for the delivery of outpatient clinical services as designated by his/her/their supervisor and consistent with the philosophy of Easterseals. The Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological evaluation services for individuals presenting with a wide range of developmental, cognitive, behavioral, emotional, psychiatric, and medical concerns. Depending on departmental needs and the individual's training and competence, responsibilities may also include consultation, supervision, therapeutic intervention, and other clinical services. The position requires advanced knowledge of psychological assessment and the consistent exercise of independent clinical judgment and discretion in the delivery of these services. The Psychologist reports directly to the Director of Clinical Services.

Skills and Requirements:

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology from an APA- or CPA-accredited doctoral program.
• Current Connecticut psychologist license or eligibility for Connecticut licensure.
• Experience conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations across a broad range of referral concerns within the individual's population(s) of competence.
• Advanced knowledge of psychological assessment and psychometric principles, including appropriate test selection, administration, interpretation, integration, and communication of findings.
• Strong clinical interviewing, diagnostic formulation, report writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to exercise sound independent clinical judgment and apply critical thinking to complex or evolving clinical situations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, referral sources, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive, ethical practice consistent with the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive outpatient psychological evaluations, including clinical interviews, record review, standardized assessment, interpretation and integration of findings, diagnostic formulation, and report preparation.
• Provide feedback, education, and consultation regarding evaluation findings and recommendations to patients, families and/or caregivers, referral sources, and other professionals.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, schools, community agencies, and other healthcare professionals to support coordinated patient care.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards, organizational policies, accreditation requirements, and payer requirements.
• Participate in department meetings, consultation, supervision, quality improvement, continuing education, and other professional activities.
• Participate in program development and provide supervision, training, and mentorship to trainees, as assigned.
• May provide psychotherapy, consultation, brief intervention, family consultation, or other clinical services consistent with the individual's training, experience, and departmental needs.
• Adhere to department and organizational policies, procedures, quality standards, confidentiality requirements, and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Services.

Physical Demands Efforts

This position requires moderate standing and walking with extended periods of sitting. The employee will frequently sit while performing computer-based documentation and other administrative functions. Occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and reaching may be required. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds (e.g., testing materials, office supplies, or banker boxes) is required. Must be able to operate standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, printers, copiers, scanners, and other office technology.

Mental, Visual, and Hearing Demands

This position requires the ability to concentrate on detailed clinical tasks for periods of more than 60 minutes at a time while managing frequent interruptions and multiple priorities. The employee must be able to analyze and integrate complex clinical information, exercise sound clinical judgment, understand and remember multiple tasks over extended periods, and complete detailed written documentation. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities include the ability to hear and communicate effectively in environments with typical background noise.

Work Environment and Hazards

This position is primarily performed in an outpatient clinical office environment. Noise levels are moderate and typical of conversations, telephones, office equipment, and routine clinical activities.
