Job summary

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Protective Services Worker (Social Service Specialist 1) in Baker City. You will respond to referrals, collect information, assess home safety, and arrange care for children while supporting families through challenging times.

You will document findings, testify in court when needed, and collaborate with schools, medical professionals, and law enforcement to promote safety and well-being for vulnerable children.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.
• Driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• One year of Human Services related experience OR completion of coursework/certification.
• Two years of Human Services related experience OR related training/certification.

Responsibilities

• Respond to referrals to determine whether child abuse or neglect has occurred.
• Interview parents and children to gather information.
• Assess safety of home environments.
• Collect collateral information from school personnel, doctors, therapists, and law enforcement.
• Complete documentation and enter information into databases.
• Arrange medical evaluations and substitute care placement for children.
• Present and testify in court.
