Job summary

Franklin County is seeking a Social Worker I to provide critical child protective services, in-home support, and crisis intervention for families in need. The role emphasizes compassionate advocacy, risk assessment, and collaboration with partners to keep children safe.

The position reports to the Social Services department, operates 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with after-hours on-call coverage, and requires outreach and documentation for court submissions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work and one year of social work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work and two years of social work or counseling experience.
• Master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience.
• Four-year degree in a human services field and three years of social work or counseling experience.
• Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home protective services to children and families.
• Respond to legally mandated reports of abuse, neglect, and dependency.
• Coordinate with other agencies to provide services and prepare for court submissions.
• Support on-call coverage and after-hours crisis response as needed.
