The Department of Children and Families in Florida invites applications for a Child Protective Investigator to assess abuse and neglect, determine safety, arrange emergency placement, and coordinate with law enforcement and state agencies. You will interview families, observe conditions, and report findings to the Florida Abuse Hotline, acting quickly to protect children.

The role requires availability for nights, weekends, and emergency response.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED required with 4 years of law enforcement or active military service; OR
• Associate degree or 60+ credit hours with two years of professional work experience or two years of law enforcement/military service;
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required or preferred;
• Diploma/degree verification must be provided within 30 days of hire.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct investigations of abuse, neglect, abandonment and/or special conditions for children.
• Collect information through observation and interviews with children, parents, relatives, and neighbors.
• Assess danger threats, child vulnerabilities and caregiver protective capacities to determine safety.
• Arrange emergency placement for children who cannot safely remain at home.
• Notify state attorney, law enforcement and child protection teams.
• Provide families with service linkages to agency and community resources.
• Conduct initial/ongoing child present and impending danger assessments.
• Report indications of abuse/neglect/abandonment to the Florida Abuse Hotline.
