Job description

Performs all administrative and operational functions of a program. Coordinates all program events and personnel and provides services directly to customers. Develops and implements program policies and procedures. Performs budgetary functions and oversees media communications, website updates, and newsletters.

The Child Protection Manager serves as the primary leader responsible for safeguarding minors participating in university-sponsored programs and activities. This role encompasses the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of institutional child protection policies and procedures, including standardized processes for camper registration, liability waivers, and emergency response planning. The Child Protection Manager designs and delivers comprehensive education and training for employees and volunteers, ensuring all departments and program facilitators are equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to maintain a safe environment. Additionally, the manager advises on all child protection matters, interprets and applies local, state, and federal laws, and provides expert guidance to university stakeholders. The Child Protection Manager conducts thorough risk assessments for campus activities involving minors, maintains accurate documentation and analytics for leadership review, and manages compliance audits with key partners such as Public Safety and University Counsel. By fostering collaborative relationships and ensuring rigorous compliance with clearances and regulations, the Child Protection Manager plays a crucial role in promoting prevention and the highest standards of child welfare across all campuses.

This is a hybrid position required to work in the office two to three days per week, with flexibility to work remotely on the remaining days.

Key Responsibilities

• Policy & Procedures: Develop, implement, & oversee institutional child protection policies, procedures for the University. This includes creating and implementing standardized processes for camper registration, waiver of liability, and emergency plans.
• Training & Education: Design & deliver child protection education for departments and program facilitators. Create child protection communication and resources when necessary. Provide guidance and advice related to all child protection matters including questions about the policy and local, state and federal child protection laws.
• Reporting and documentation: Provide child protection related data and analytics to leadership as requested. Maintain University records related to child protection.
• Program Oversight, Compliance and Audit: Build relationships with key stakeholders such as Public Safety, University Counsel, and Program Facilitators. Implement audit protocols for site visits to ensure camp/program compliance across all campuses. Ensure compliance of clearances for camps/programs.

Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
