Job summary

Child Start, Inc. is seeking a Food Server to prepare and store food for children, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and ensure compliance with Health Department and CACFP guidelines. The role requires lifting up to 30 pounds, records of meals and deliveries, and collaboration with the Nutrition Coordinator and Center Supervisor.

Daily commuting to Wichita, KS is required. The position offers a competitive hourly rate of $13.88, with full-time hours (40/week, 52 weeks) and a benefits package

Qualifications

• Maintains and documents hot and cold food at recommended temperatures.
• Ensures food is properly stored and labeled.
• Cleans dishes and kitchen while maintaining health and sanitation requirements.
• Establishes and follows a routine for thorough cleaning of cabinets, oven, refrigerator and all other equipment.
• Keeps accurate daily records of food deliveries, menus, meals, and snacks served and quantities served.
• Adjusts menus or prepares special meals to meet dietary needs, as directed by the Nutrition Coordinator in coordination with the Center Supervisor.
• Maintains confidentiality of children’s information.
• Divides food in appropriate amounts for serving each class and delivers to each classroom with necessary serving utensils and tableware at appropriate times based upon meal service.
• Makes recommendations to Nutrition Coordinator regarding appropriate quantities.
• Notes discrepancies in food delivered by caterer and menu requirements and reports to Nutrition Coordinator.
• Inventories and requests supplies as needed.
• Requests and maintains necessary supplies and helps with necessary preparation for children’s activities.
• Collaborates and shares feedback with Nutrition Coordinator of possible activities involving food.
• Posts changes to the menus so families are aware of food substitutions.
• Assists with Family Activity events

Responsibilities

• Prepare and store food items for nourishing snacks and meals for children.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness including refrigerators, ovens, cabinets, and equipment.
• Meet or exceed Health Department and CACFP guidelines.
• Maintain daily records of meals, snacks, and deliveries.
• Assist with menu changes and family activities.
