Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to lift heavy objects of at least 40 pounds, stand for up to 4 hours, and work in hot temperatures.
2. No formal education is required.
3. The ability to do work.
Assist in the daily operation of the kitchen by setting up tables, garbage cans, etc. Help younger students with condiments over the lunch hour. Clean the eating area daily.
This position works under immediate or general supervision depending on experience. The incumbent is responsible for tasks such as setting up condiment tables, setting out tables, filling milk coolers, and ensuring eating areas are clean after lunch.
The incumbent is expected to assist in lunchroom setup daily and help students with their needs as they arise.
All food service and setup tasks, including cleanup, are directed and supervised by the lead cook or food service manager. Cleaning assignments are planned by superiors, and work sequences may be decided by the incumbent to accomplish tasks efficiently.
The incumbent will work on wet, greasy, slippery floors; in hot, humid, noisy kitchens with boiling foods and liquids requiring heavy lifting; with hot grills and ovens; and with potentially harmful chemicals such as oven cleaners or de-limers.
Evaluation: Performance is measured by the timeliness and quality of work, as well as direct observation of work habits and cleanliness of the assigned area.
