Job summary

Sioux Falls School District Child Nutrition Services is hiring a Child Nutrition Cook for a 1.0 FTE position to support school meals and nutritional program goals. You will prepare cooked foods, keep production records, follow SD sanitation guidelines, and adjust recipes as needed.

A high school diploma is required, valid South Dakota driver’s license, ability to lift 50 pounds, and post-offer drug screening.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Post-offer drug screening and physical (District funded) prior to starting.
• Vocational training desirable in chef’s training or related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepares cooked foods including main dishes, vegetables, sauces and gravies.
• Keeps production records for preparation and serving of all food used.
• Washes all small equipment after tasks and per sanitation guidelines.
• Adjusts recipes for varying quantities.
• Keeps work area clean per sanitation health regulations.
• Stores leftover food according to proper storage and safety procedures.
• Evaluates menu items for product standards.
• Follows safety procedures in use of all equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION LEVEL:

High school diploma

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Refer to physical demand summary. Post-offer drug screening and physical (funded by the District) required prior to starting position.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Vocational training desirable in chef’s training or any associate degree program in a related field. Valid South Dakota driver’s license. Ability to lift 50 pounds.

PAY INFORMATION

Monday through Friday,6:00 am to 2:00 pm with a working lunch
