Ysleta Independent School District seeks a dedicated cook/food service worker to prepare meals, inspect equipment, and supervise helpers in our El Paso kitchens, adhering to safety and sanitation standards. Follow Texas Public School Nutrition policies, record production and leftovers, and coordinate meal timing.
Qualifications: high school diploma or GED preferred, valid Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain within 30 days, 3 years in food prep or as a helper in Child Nutrition, and a TX/NM
Responsible for food preparation, inspection of kitchen equipment, and safety and sanitation practices. Supervision of helpers. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations.
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred; possess current Food Handler's Card or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment with the district; three (3) years experience in food preparation in a food service setting or as a helper in Child Nutrition; supervisory experience preferred. Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions in English, possess strong organizational skills. Valid Texas/New Mexico driver's license/ID card; subject to the district's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation; must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.
Have the ability to handle multiple tasks while working under pressure. Maintain emotional control under stress and frequent interruptions. Continual standing and walking; must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder); moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
