Job summary

Ysleta Independent School District is seeking a candidate to assist in the efficient maintenance and supervision of a school food service program. You will work under the direction of the principal and cafeteria manager to ensure compliant operations, inventory control, and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee campus nutrition operations with the principal and cafeteria manager.

Job description

Summary

Assist in the efficient maintenance and supervision of a food service program in an individual school under the direction and guidance of the school principal and the cafeteria manager. Adhere to established federal and state laws and regulations and YISD Board of Trustees policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Work cooperatively with the campus principal and cafeteria manager to oversee campus school nutrition operations.
  • Supervise kitchen personnel in production service and clean‑up operations.
  • Operate the school's child nutrition program within established guidelines to ensure a cost effective program of high integrity with effective accounting of money and inventory.
  • Assist in maintaining the food and supply inventory and order items when inventories fall below established amounts.
  • Assist in ensuring food is produced safely, of high quality, according to policies, procedures and department requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and data entry as directed by the cafeteria manager.
  • Implement the policies and procedures of National School Lunch and breakfast programs.
  • Recommend small equipment replacement needs.
  • Assist in the instruction of staff in safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.

11 . Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area.

Other Responsibilities
  • Participate in professional development activities as required by district, state, and federal policies.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district/department goals.
  • Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Complete annual continuing education requirements.
Qualifications

High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required; possess current Food Handler's Card; three (3) years food service experience; ability to organize, delegate, instruct and train; ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions in English. Strong communication and leadership skills preferred. Valid Texas/New Mexico driver's license/ID card; subject to the district's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation; must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.

Mental/Physical Demands

Handle multiple tasks while working under pressure. Maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions. Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to fifty (50) pounds frequently.

Handle exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Do continual walking, prolonged standing, pushing and pulling. Do frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and climbing (ladder).
