Job summary

Norton Healthcare is seeking a Child Life Therapist/Facility Dog Handler to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate psychosocial needs for neonatal to 17-year-old patients and their families in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role focuses on providing psychosocial support, coordinating developmentally appropriate activities, advocating for patients, and supporting families throughout care, with training for facility dog handler duties as part of the position.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 600 hour Child Life internship.
• Bachelor Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Education or other health-related field.
• Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification or must be eligible to sit for exam; must obtain CCLS within 12 months of hire.
• Willingness to complete facility dog handler training through a service dog organization.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate psychosocial needs for neonatal to 17-year-old patients and their families.
• Provide psychosocial support to meet social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth needs.
• Coordinate activities to support child development in inpatient and outpatient settings; advocate for patients and families.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Education or other health-related field

Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification or eligible
