Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Child Life Specialist for the CICU and ACCU to support the psychosocial and development needs of patients from birth through young adulthood. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide coping strategies and family-centered care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The role involves supporting procedures, bereavement, and development, while maintaining unit resources and mentoring student interns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
• 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
• General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced-based knowledge.
• Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
• Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

• Common interventions include support for procedures, siblings, development, and bereavement
• Providing coping support for patients with both short and long-term hospitalizations
• Maintaining resources which include ordering and stocking unit areas
• Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participates in clinical training of student interns.
