Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Child Life specialist to participate in therapeutic activities and support for patients from birth to young adulthood. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to meet psychosocial and developmental needs and facilitate adjustment to health care experiences.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Child Development or related field, a 600-hour internship, and Child Life Certification within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a related field with a concentration in child life.
• 600-hour Child Life internship under supervision of a certified child life specialist.
• Skills to apply child development theory and professional child life principles in practice.
• Strong writing skills and excellent communication, including conflict resolution, to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support procedures and procedures-related activities, including siblings and bereavement support.
• Provide coping support for patients during hospitalizations (short and long-term).
• Maintain and stock unit resources and supplies.
• Assist in training student interns and delegate tasks to volunteers.
