The Child Life Specialist I provides cost-effective, high-quality child life services to patients. Responsibilities include:

1. Performing thorough patient developmental assessments
2. Creating and implementing individualized treatment plans for developmentally appropriate preparation and support throughout hospitalization
3. Serving as a resource and liaison for patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
4. Precepting playroom assistants, students, and volunteers
5. Maintaining playroom activities and supplies
6. Participating in quality and performance improvement initiatives

Must be able to multitask to achieve goals, including patient and family education/support, managing play spaces and supplies, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, supervising students and volunteers, and programming.

Qualifications:

• Certification in child life or eligibility to sit for the exam (degree completed, internship completed); must pass within one year and maintain certification
• Master’s degree preferred; BS/BA in child life, education, child development, or related fields required
